The area known as Parkside in Herrington is a small micro-suburb of Herrington wedged between the A690 (Durham Road), the area known as West Park and A19.
Today, on their Facebook page, local history organisation Sunderland Antiquarian society posted this extraordinary photo of what the area used to look like, presumably dated around the late 1940s.
